humber valley

I'm thinking of visiting Humber Valley with my husband and 2 children (aged 9 and 6)either the beginning of December 2006 of possibly January 2007. Has anyone stayed here or does anyone know anything about this resort? Will there be plenty of snow at the beginning of December or is it best to wait until January. Is there plenty to do for children - we're not particulary interested in skiing we're more interested in toboganning, sledging etc.

Is that the name of the resort? The Humber River runs through a good chunk of west Toronto but I take it you don't mean Toronto? More info, please.

I suspect that the OP is referring to the Humber Valley in Newfoundland.

Thanks - now I know.

I'm curious about this......if it is Nfld there are a whole lot of other places I would rather be in January.

Jerry: I'm not so sure about that--the resort is very close to Marble Mountain, where the skiing is reputed to be excellent, and Europeans have been buying up the luxury chalets at a furious pace. I imagine the other winter sports would be fairly good there. There's even direct air service between Gatwick and Deer Lake.

Now someone from elsewhere in Canada might not make the trek to Nfld in the winter, but I can see the attraction for those from the UK and the rest of Europe.

Thanks!

That makes sense.
