Houseboating Trent-Severn Waterway
I'd like to get some feedback on houseboating on the Trent-Severn Waterway near Toronto. I've done a search for information on Fodor's and haven't come up with much information.
We've booked a houseboat for a week in August. I have a lot of questions, but will start with the fact that we're leaving from the Orillia area and it looks like we can travel up through Lake Couchiching and Sparrow Lake towards the Severn River. I'd like any help that folks can offer on the area. Marinas, restaurants, bike trails, how crowded is the area? How concerned do we need to be about knowing our itinerary ahead of time to book a spot for the evening? We don't know how far we can even travel in a day...
I'll start with those questions and hope for some feedback.
Thanks!

I started a thread with a more general houseboating question on US forum yesterday. Several interesting responses and someone did mention area to which you are going - you might want to read it and if that person used a real email address, try to reach them - or tag onto that thread and maybe increase your chances of answers.

Thank you. I've written to her. I'm hoping to hear back. In the meantime, anyone else?
Thanks.

Sounds like a wonderful trip - and a great idea. I wouldn't be overly concerned about your decision to visit the area or the specifics of the trip. I think those things will just work themselves out satisfactorily. I hear the area is beautiful and that its a very enjoyable trip. Just relax and enjoy.
