Hotels in Vancouver near Langley?
Hi all,
I am going to a wedding at the Redwoods Golf Course in Langley, BC, next August. My husband and I have no idea where to stay. We ideally want to find a hotel that is close to the wedding location but also close to the sights and sounds of Vancouver.
I also have no idea about public transportation and if that needs to factor into our decision for a hotel.
So, any help any of you could provide would be great!
Happy holidays and Thanks!

Langley is in no way '<i>close to Vancouver</i>' it's about a 40 minute drive depending on traffic.
Hotels are of the '<i>dolled up motel</i>' variety-don't expect much as Langley is in no way a genteel destination it's a boring dreary suburb.
Transit connections are poor to nonexistent you'll definitely need to rent a car.
Staying at a downtown hotel is your best bet-a short drive to/from the event and then you're free to enjoy yourselves for the rest of your stay.
Beware any suggestion re: staying somewhere midway between the two-a poor idea that means commuting in/out of downtown when staying here is the same price/better amenities.

I live about 15 min from Langley. The Redwoods is at 200th and 88th. There is a Holiday Inn Express at 87th and 204th ph 604 882 2000 or Best Western at 5978 Glover 604-530-9311 or Hampton Inn 195th and the Langley By Pass 604-530-6545 and the New Coast Hotel and Conv Center / Casino at 203rd and Fraser Hwy 604-530-1500. Drive to Vancouver about 1 hour. You can take the Sky Train downtown check out this link - http://www.translink.bc.ca/Transport...in/default.asp or http://www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/

I'm with Sam_Salmon on this one. Unless you are part of the wedding party and need to be at the golf course at a crazy hour to help set up, I suggest staying in downtown Vancouver and just renting a car for the wedding day to get to Langley.
Even if you are part of the wedding party, I think it would be worth the hassle to stay at a local Langley hotel for a day or two around the wedding, and then move to a downtown Vancouver hotel (where you won't need a rental car - you can see most the sites using your feet and public transit).
Langley is pretty far from Vancouver, geographically and culturally.
Enjoy-la!

Joyadvtr gave a good run down of whats available in Langley. I've stayed at the Hampton Inn and suites and it was nice and clean, but basic. I agree with other posters that you should stay in Langley for a few days around the wedding and then locate downtown. A car is very handy to have as the transportation system outside Vancouver proper is not good. If you decide to stay in Langley then I would drive to a skytrain station and take this to downtown or drive to S Surrey and take the 352 express bus direct to downtown. I prefer the bus to the skytrain especially at night it feels much safer.
