Hotels in Vancouver

Somewhere on this message board there was mention of the Listel Hotel. Can someone give me some feedback on the Listel? I was wondering if this was a noisy area since it is on Robson St. Also the travel agent mention A Ramada Inn which was in a heritage building on Tendei St. but I have been unable to find it on the internet. Actually, have not been able to find Tendie st. Does anyone know of this hotel. Also, any comments on the English Bay Inn on Comox st. would be helpful.
Thanks

The Ramada Hotel is on Pender Street close to Gastown and the Harbour. It's not as good an area as the Listel which is also a better quality place.

I will be staying at the Listel next month- I have done A LOT of research on it.I think I am really going to love it there.

I know this may not be a big help to you because I have never actually been there, but I just have a very good feeling about the place.

I've known several people who stayed there and they all seemed happy, although I haven't questioned them extensively. I'd definitely argue for Listel over Ramada.

And I forgot to mention that noise is not a factor at the Listel because they have sound proof windows. :) Nice website. http://www.listel-vancouver.com/

We stayed at the Westin Bayshore. Coincidentally, two diferent sets of our friends stayed there to. It is in a good location on the water and near Stanley Park. The roomsa re nice and the hotel has shops and restaurants. I would not stay downtown unless you are concerned about shopping and the nightlife. I would not stay anywhere near Gastown (questionable area after dark).

I've been to Vancouver several times and would never stay anywhere else than the Pan Pacific Hotel! It's absolutely gorgeous!

I am sure a lot of people would like to stay at the Pan Pacific, but not everyone can afford it.

We found a good deal last year on Expedia for the Pacific Palisades. Of course, favorable exchange rate helped...

We LOVED the place -- Vancouver, and the hotel. And Vij, where we went twice for dinner. And the kind anonymous person who, exiting Vij and finding us with a taxi driver who had no change and could not take our US$, paid our $10 cab fare! We were stunned, amazed, delighted. We did figure out how to repay his kindness with Vij's help, but what a wonderful gesture. And to cap it all, Air Canada upgraded us to 1st class on the flight home via Toronto. Can't wait to go again!

Just to clear it up for some people (because I got confused to before) The Pan Pacific and Pacific Palisades are 2 very different hotels.

SB_Trvlr, WOW! It seems like you did have a great time!! I hope I get bumped to 1st class. heehee :)

9 more days till I leave for Vancouver!!! As soon as I get back I will post all my adventures (and my thoughts on all the accomodations where I stayed-including the Listel)
BTW, I found a GREAT DEAL on the Listel at www.estays.com It comes with breakfast and a gift certificate for Chapters.

Correction -- my bad. We stayed at the Pan Pacific, not Pacific Palisades. Everything else was correct. Must be grey cell loss (but it is easy to confuse those names!)

We liked Pan Pacific so much that we gave it a Rave vote of 5.
