Hotels in Montreal
 

Greetings -<BR><BR>I'm planning a trip to Montreal in late March and am looking for hotel recommendations. I'm looking for something that is affordable (preferably nothing under 3 stars), and in a good location. Clean and comfortable would also be nice, but definitely don't need anything fancy.<BR><BR>I would also appreciate recommendations as to where is the best place to stay; downtown or Old Town Montreal. This is my first trip to Montreal, and will only be there for 3 days so I would like to be near all the attractions. Any suggestions about what is a definite must see, would also be welcome.<BR><BR>Thank you very much for your feedback.<BR><BR>-Elizabeth<BR>

I suggest you stay at The Novotel. It is very nice, moderately priced, clean and comfortable. I stayed there last Oct., by chance, and was impressed. There is a good Italian restaurant around the corner called Aldos. I always stay downtown, near Peel and St. Catherine.<BR>Have fun.<BR>A.M.<BR>A.M.

I second the choice of the Novotel. I have used this hotel many times and find it to be quite nice, with good rooms, good food in the lobby cafe, underground parking, and well located for shopping and sightseeing.

Thanks for the replies! There is actually a good deal on the Novotel right now, as well as for the Best Western Ville-Marie. Would you happen to know anything about the Best Western, and if so, would you still recommend the Novotel over it, especially in terms of location?

Elizabeth, I've walked past the Novotel a few times, and it does look nice. However, I would prefer to stay further east, at the Crowne Plaza on Sherbrooke, or one of the small chateau style hotels in that area such as the Argoat or Manior Sherbrooke. The reason I prefer this neighborhood is it's proximity to St. Denis, which is perhaps the most interesting street in the city, with all the cafes, shops, bars, etc. Realize that Montreal is slightly more 'New York' like downtown, and slightly more 'Paris' like heading towards the St. Denis area (this is a very general observation). No matter where you wind up, you'll have a great time!

And it's 'Old Montreal' not the Old Town!!!!!<BR>And it's the 'Old Port' and not the Marina!!!
