Hotels at Niagara Falls
I have not decided definitely where to stay at Niagara Falls. Have a reservation on hold at marriott Couryard but am not sure if it is a good location but the price is good. I am still checking out a few other alternatives and I am trying to keep it in the $80 per night price range (US). We are going the week before rates go up. Also any suggestions on good eating place more upscale and less family oriented if that is possible?

Here is a "possible" that will probably fall into your price range:

Holiday Inn by the Falls
5339 Murray Street
Niagara Falls, Ontario
905-356-1333

This is not part of the Holiday Inn franchise and while it is not the Ritz, it is plenty adequate -- comfortable, indoor pool, restaurant and a really fantastic location. Give it a look. Happy Trails! :o)

The Mariott Coutyard is a few minutes walk from the Casino, the wax museum, and the Maid of the Mist boarding point.

What more could you ask?

The walk from the Maid ofthe Mist ticket booth to the top of the falls is interesing and fairly short, and you are close to the People Mover bus service.

For the best dinners, go to Niagara on
the Lake, which is down the river half an hour or so. Try www.vintageinns.com for restaurant info

BAK

Thanks for the info but now I am in a dilema since I called the Brock Plaza and got an excellent package rate which Includes breakfast for 2 days and one dinner. Should I go with the Brock or stay with the Marriott Courtyard or is that a silly question? Don't know since I have never stayed anywhere in that vicinity. They are holding my room for 24 hours need help!

Seeing that you have a time constraint here and no answers, I am going to to try to answer even thought I am not an expert. We were in Niagara for the weekend. In terms of location, the Brock is right at the Falls and is by the casino and the maid of the mist attraction and probably has a good view of the American Falls. I'm not sure whether all of their rooms have a Falls view. The Marriott Courtyard is a few blocks back and I don't know if they have a view at all.

In terms of comparing luxury of accommodation, I can't comment.I hope this helps.

Thanks I am going to go with the Brock.
Since you were there for the weekend can you recommend any place for dinner? Where did you stay? Thanks for the help.

We stayed at the Hilton Fallsview.Loved it! For a short trip report (more of a thank you ) see the thread titled
"Need help urgently! Last minute opportunity to go to Niagara and Toronto presents itself"
We ate at the Hilton restaurant the first night as our package included $75 towards the meal there. It is very expensive and was very upscale. Beautifully decorated and food is well presented. There are blown glasss sculptures and waterfalls all over. The bathroom is gorgeous. It is really nice (but expensive) Beautiful view of the Falls and the fireworks on Friday night. Even though it was pricey, I am glad that we ate there as we arrived late on Friday and it was raining and it saved us from walking around in the rain looking for somewhere to eat. Check out the website at the Hilton Fallsview.

We found food very expensive in Niagara and be warned, there are no free refills. (Each small soda or iced tea cost 3.50 CAD a glass.)

The second night we ate at the restaurant next to the Holiday Inn, as we were in a hurry to get to the concert. Nothing special. Would not recommend it. But someone else in that thread had given recommendations to restaurants.

We drove from Toronto and the traffic is horrendous. Airport is badly signposted as well. We spent Sunday in toronto and I'm sorry we did not spend more time in Niagara as we preferred it to Toronto.

We were up early and so got to the attractions very early and had no wait. I am sorry I did not bring a small waterproof disposable camera.

Also loved Niagara on the Lake. Ate at the Buttery Theater restaurant for lunch. It was very good.
Thanks for the info Lisa. I was contemplating driving to Toronto but will think twice about that and I definitely plan on going on the Maid of the Mist. On our Brock pacage we have dinner for one of the 3 nights there so will just go somewhere else the other 2. Maybe the Hilton since we would like to go somewhere fancy one of the nights. If anyone else has suggestions on a restaurant that is more upscale I would appreciate hearing from you.
