Hotel Versailles -- Montreal
Has anyone stayed in this hotel? They have what I think is a good rate for our November trip ($125CDN/night). The Chateau Versailles was also available, but was $185CDN/night...

Primary considerations are close to shopping and restaurants.

Thank you!

It is right across the street, from the outside it is a nondescript Holiday Innish looking place. I have heard that it is just ok. The Chateau always gets better reviews. I don't like being that far down at the end of Sherbrook.
Do you have a auggestion for a similarly priced hotel that is in a better location and/or has a better reputation?

Thanks!
Suzanne:
The Versailles Plaza is not really that "far down" Sherbrooke. It's a 10 min. walk to corner of Peel and Ste-Catherine (the center of the downtown core). My daughter stayed there just last weekend and said it was very nice and that the breakfast was excellent.

It's me again!

I have found a package at Delta Montreal that is only $25CDN (second night 1/2 price) more than the Hotel Versailles. It includes tickets to attractions, etc. Is this hotel more desireable? Closer to shopping and restaurants?

Thank you!!!
Suzanne
Don't know about Hotel Versailles, but I stayed at Delta Montreal this summer. Location was good, but I found that many rooms were run down looking (dirty carpeting in the room and hallway etc). Some floors have been renovated, some not. I would try other hotels such as Sheraton, Renaissance, etc before I would stay at the Delta again
