Hotel Help
Hi, I'm traveling to Toronto and have heard about the Comfort Inn (115 Charles Street)...is this neighborhood safe, is it close to everything? We're on a budget ($100 US/night)...any other recommendations? How about the Venture Inn on Avenue? Please help, I need to book us a place soon. Thanks!

Check out the Bond Place Hotel. Very nice, a block from Eaton Center and the metro. Low, low rates (even less if you are AAA members) - so low, I had booked an alternative just in case - but, this hotel was very nice. Rooms are a bit on the compact side, but comfortable, nicely decorated, and meticulously maintained. You can find the phone number on the web at www.citysearch.com then Toronto.

You have good advice from Donna.

Stayed at the Bond Place in June. Great location and quality of rooms for the price was great. You're so close to Eaton Centre and subway. The price should be $100 Canadian or less per night -- neighborhood is very safe. If you're from the states and visit USA cities, you'll be surprised at how safe Toronto street are -- at all hours!

You'll have a great time.

Ithinkyou may have typed the address incorrectly. There's a hotel from that chain closer to Yonge Street, at 15 Charles Street East. if you have a Toronto map with the main streets marked, you'll find the hotel two blocks south of Bloor Street, just a few steps east of Yonge.

It's a fine neighborhood if you like lots of people around. You are only two blocks from the edge of the Yorkville neighborhood, which is pretty much Toronto's combination of Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive. The major museum is a couple of blocks away, there are lots of good restaurants nearby, and there's a subway station that serves both the main North-South and East-West routes.

The Venture Inn is on the quieter side of Yorkville, and backs up on houses that sell for a million dollars and up. It's across the street from some great restaurants, too.

If you like cashmere and BMW's, even though you can't afford them, pick theVenture Inn. If you are more jeeps and cargo pants, pick the Comfort Inn. I used tohave an office next to the Comfort Inn, and miss being in the neighborhood everyday. The Venture Inn used to be a drug-dealers haven 30 years ago, and a property for which I had some responsibility. It's been sold, modernized, the neighborhood's been gentrified, and all is well.
BAK
Brian,

Thanks for the info. Yes, I meant 15 Charles, E. -- I'm definitely a cargo pants and jeeps kinda gal (actually, a scooter and jeans)! Looking forward to exploring your city. Thanks again. CW
