hotel doorman - Tip?

Having a wonderful time in Ottawa - mostly walking - occasional taxi as hailed by hotel doorman -- should I tip the doorman??? and if so, how much??? Thanks!

Yes, you should-a tooney ($2) coin each time, but I would give $5-10 if this is something that is a repeat performance. Think of it as insurance: taxis in snow in Ottawa are scarce as hen's teeth and if anyone can find one it will be your doorman.

Just label me, 'been there!' and check out the forecast for later this week.

"...are scarce as hen's teeth..." particulary during the transit strike.

Oh, yes...good point, JQ, I had forgotten that complication!

Strike is over at last!
