Honeymoon tinerary for Vanouver Island/Victoria

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and would like to know if this itinerary is doable and covers what we should see.

Day 1 - Travel from Vancouver to Aerie Resort (Victoria)
Day 2 - relax at Aerie spa
Day 3 - Victoria
Day 4 - Butchart Gardens
Day 5 - Drive to Tofino stay at Wickannish Inn / Whale watching trip
Day 6 - Tofino - bear watching trip
Day 7 - Ferry back to Vancouver
Day 8 - Vancouver (Granville Island, Chinese Garden, Harbor Cruise)
Day 9 - home

Thanks for your input!

Hi Soontobemrs,

Sounds like a very nice honeymoon you have planned! I notice you plan to drive from Victoria to Tofino and do a whale watching trip on the same day. It takes about 5 or 6 hours to drive from Victoria to Tofino so I don't think you will be able to do a whale trip in the same day unless you plan to leave very early.

My husband and I stayed at the Wickaninnish (spelling?) Inn last fall for 2 nights and really loved it. All the rooms face the water and have a deck where you can watch the waves hit the rocks. The food in the dining room is excellent so make sure you make reservations for dinner their one night at least.

You may want to rethink your plans a little to fit in the drive to Tofino better.

Have a wonderful honeymoon!!

Your itinerary sounds doable to me. You are not try to cram too much into too short a period. If you are going to do whale watching on the same day you drive up to Tofino, you may want to phone the Whale watching company from Victoria to book your whale watching tour. I am not sure if you can show up in Tofino and go whale watching the same day without booking in advance. Other than that, I think you have a good itinerary.

If you want to research your visit to Victoria, try visiting these web sites:

Try to have dinner at the Aerie. My husband and I ate there about 3 years ago and to date still think it was one of the best dining experiences (and we are from San Francisco!). The wines were wonderful also. Have a great time!

I don't know what day of the week Day 4 is but just to let you know that summertime Saturdays at Butchart's are fireworks nights and the place gets packed. Apparently even in the rain this weekend it was packed. So, perhaps a morning or another day would be better if you're not planning on taking in the firework display.

But if you can take in the fireworks at Butcharts, do so. They are probably the best you'll ever see.
