Honeymoon Recommendations for Montreal and Quebec
 

Hello all. We are a young 30's couple planning our first visit to this wonderful country. Can anyone recommend a nice honeymoon hotel, and nightlife for us as we haveheard several mixed reviews from our friends here in the states. Thanks

Chez La Mere Michel on Guy Street,just south of Stge. Catherine's, for a romantic, exquisite French cuisine dinner, in the $150 -200 (Cdn) range. <BR>Crescent Street, north of St. Catherines Street; St.Laurent Blvd, north ofSherbrooke, and St.. Denis, south of Sherbrooke, for nightlife. <BR>Auberge du Vieux Porte (The spelling may be slightly off) is a small, romantic hotel in Old Montreal, and I'd find it hard to beat unless you want a pool, health club, etc. <BR>BAK

I second the L'auberge de Vieux Port. Quiet and small, with rustic romantic rooms. Rooms facing the port have wonderful views with floor to ceiling windows that open.

I would recommend dinner at Bonaparte in Vieux Montreal. The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is quite romantic. It is off of a windy cobble stone road with candles on the tables and excellent service. <BR> <BR>In Quebec City, I would highly recommend the Chateau Frontenac for lodging.

There is a terrific bed and breakfast known as Le Maison du Mesnil. Renee speaks enough English to be very helpful. <BR>The room are large and the house is comfortable. Check out the web site and see what you think. Renee did most of her own design work on the web pages. <BR>One drawback, you may have to use Internet Explorer to read them. Netscape 4.7 had a problem with them.

I concur w/Brian and Tom. Highly recommend Auberge du Vieux-Port, located in Old Montreal. We stayed here last July...the auberge is charming and very romantic. Great staff...wonderful accommodations. Am certain they have an 800 phone number. <BR>When we return, we would not stay anywhere else.

<BR>In Quebec, you want to stay inside the Walled City, and I agree with Frontenac (right on the river) is wonderful. Isle d'Orleans is out of the way. For a daytrip there, though, there's a wonderful elegant country Quebec cuisine restaurant called <BR>L'Atre. You park and they bring you to the restaurant in a horse and buggy. Quebec City itself has many precious little wonderful restaurants,and is pretty at every turn. We had a wonderful vacation there. Have a great time.
