HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE FACTORY

What's the best way to get to the Hershey's Chocolate Factory for a visit from either Niagara Falls area or Toronto?

Check hersheys.com for all details needed on directions and times. Basically, from Toronto you take the 401 to Kingston and then Hwy 15 -- or you can continue on the 401 to Brockville and take a smaller road.

The site says:

"From Kingston and 401:
HIGHWAY 15 to SMITHS FALLS or if approaching from the 401 (either direction) take the highway 15 exit and head north.
Go to BROCKVILLE ST / LOMBARDY ST (traffic lights / bridge on left)
Cross intersection
Follow the street (JASPER STREET) to traffic light
Turn right, go under overpass
First left is HERSHEY DRIVE go to third gate for VISITOR CENTER
First gate is for DISTRIBUTION CENTER"

Are you quite quite sure you want to drive roughly 200 miles to see chocolates being made?

It is in Smiths Falls Ontario and is about a three and half hour drive on the way to Ottawa. The exit off the 401 is at Kingston. I highly recommend stopping in at Kingston, visiting Smith Falls and staying a few nights in Ottawa.

tedgale,

There is a lot more to do than JUST watching chocolate being made. (and what's it to you anyway) I haven't been in years, but I LOVEd Hershey (even though it isn't even my favorite chocolate -prefer to waste my calories on the European stuff ;) ) Anyway, the theme park is really nice and reminds me a lot of Orlando, but not quite as touristy.

It is very enjoyable.

I'm surprised Wallace....at your snarkyness.
I agree with Tedgale, it's a long way to go to see chocolate being made.
And at the Ontario location, that is ALL there is to do, according to their web site. ( Oh and you can also spend money at the shop there.
YOU must be confusing it with the USA Hershey theme park.

tedgale gave good directions , but my advice is that unless you are travelling to Ottawa anyway, it's not worth the drive.

You are right. I was confusing it with USA :D I am planning a trip for Toronto and Boston so I am back and forth and forget where I am half the time. ;)

As for my "snarkyness" (I don't know what that word means, but I can guess) I think my "tone of voice" was misinterpreted by the keyboard. I was just playing around. (I apologize) I REALLY did not mean to be rude!!

Wallace, I've read enough of your posts to know it didn't 'sound' like you.
I suppose my keyboard misunderstood your keyboard's tone!! ( I'd do one of those smiley faces if I knew how!)

I haven't been to the Hershey's in PA but understand it is amazing. Too bad the one up here isn't the same. Definately not worth the drive.

Thank you all so much for your input. It looks like we won't make the drive - didn't realize it's so far - and as we will be in New York later that week will visit the hershey's store instead. If we happen to get to Pa. will definitely try the factory there.

Thanks again to all of you - :):):)
