Visiting Seattle for six days and trying to decide if a trip to Victoria is worth it. Mixed reviews on this site. Also, is a day trip worth it, or is it best to spend one or two nights? Also, best place to stay there? Thanks for the advice!

I think Victoria is worth it...and if cash is no object, I would try to stay at the Empress, otherwise there are several hotels downtown...which is where you should stay. So on that note, I would suggest a trip from Seattle via the Ferry and stay for at least a night or two.....You will enjoy it very much....I don't think a day trip would be a good idea, too much travelling, too rushed for time....

Victoria is well worth a visit and can be managed quite nicely from Seattle by taking the Clipper from downtown to downtown. There is lots to see in Victoria and most can be done on foot. If I'm not mistaken, the clipper has packages that they offer with hotels.www.victoriaclipper.com. The Royal B.C. Museum, and Butcharts Gardens are two sights not to be missed. I'm sure once you get here, you won't regret it one bit!!

Yes, the Victoria Clipper is a good choice, but you can also fly from downtown to downtown via a Kenmore Air float plane. This is a wondefully scenic flight, and will give you a full day in Victoria. The first flight leaves at 7:30am from Lake Union in downtown Seattle, and the last flight leaves at 6:30pm from the Victoria waterfront. Flight time is about an hour. Of course, the cost is higher (about US$180 round trip), but not that much higher if you consider that it would save you the cost of a hotel room.

Victoria is definitely worth a side trip to see, it's one of Canada's beautiful cities--I thorougly enjoyed spending time there. I would recommend the hotel, Hotel Grand Pacific (http://www.preferredhotels.com/value...r.asp?id=51434). It's a member of the Preferred Group of hotels, the room was very modern with cathedral ceilings and if you get a room with a view, you will have an awesome view of the government buildings lit at night across the bay.

Definitely worth the trip, suggest to stay at Empress Hotel or nearby, that's the center of everything, and stay at least one night.

WE just returned from an eight day trip to Seattle. We did not have a car the first 3 days and walked everywhere or used city trans. We rented a car from Budget located 2 blocks from our hotel (cheaper than leasing from the airport) and rode a car ferry from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge and then drove to Port Angeles. Left our car at the docks and took the Victoria Express over to Victoria to spend the night. Be sure to go on a Sat. to Buchart Gardens and see the fireworks. Very unusual fireworks presented artistically with music. It was awesome. We got a Gray Line tour from downtown Victoria for $25.oo each including entrance to the gardens and left the driving and parking to the bus driver then we were returned to Victoria after the fireworks. These were not your ordinary fireworks. Not to be missed. Leaving downtown Victoria about 6:00 pm we had plenty of time to see the gardens before the fireworks. It was a spectacular evening. We stayed at the Harbourside Marina. It was a must do two days. The next day we returned to Port Angeles continued west to see Hurricane mountain and over to the coast and the rainforest. A great trip.

I'm wondering how one can get a view of the Legislative Buildings (or Parliament Buildings as most people call them) across the bay from the Hotel Grand Pacific when they are actually next door to one another on the same street.

Empress is great hotel, but many others are there. Great city, great food, great pubs, well worth the time to visit. We took ferry (with car) from Vancouver to Victoria and back. Worked out fine. Be sure to visit Barb's for excellent fish and chips (if still in business). Buchart Gardens is a MUST DO.

Hi. Im staying in Victoria for one night with my husband and some friends and I want to know if anyone could tell me what is there to do at night, besides going to dinner. I was thinking more of a pub or something like that. Somewere with live music maybe. If you know a specific name, I would aprecciate that. Thanks!
