Help re Pan Pacific Whistler

We are planning a trip to Whistler in early Summer and had pretty much decided on the Pan Pacific as we wanted a good location and nice hotel that featured reasonable off season rates. However reading all the posts on this site and others, I am starting to wonder if we should be careful about our room location - seems some people report quite a bit of noise from rooms overlooking the pool/pub and the gondola area. From looking at the pictures these all seem to be on the same side? They have some great rates for Mountain View rooms, but are these rooms the ones facing towards the supposed noise? My husband is now concerned I might be choosing a hotel geared towards a younger crowd (20's 30's). Perhaps there is an area of the hotel that still has nice views but is not right over the party zone? Any input would be appreciated! thanks

We stayed at the Westin last time we were there. The rooms were very nice and quiet. It's close to the gandolas but away from the bars.

Hi Orca,
The Pan is a very nice hotel, and you should have no problem if you are going early summer with noise in the square. It is a 4 star hotel and caters to 4 star type clients. There is an Irish pub on the ground floor that can get noisy( Whistler is, after all, a resort town that likes to party) But if you request a room on one of the upper floors( 6 or higher) or ask for one on the north side( views aren't as good) you should be fine. The alternative is the Westin , which doesn't have as good a view corridor, but will definitely be quieter. Cheers, Al

Thanks very much Al. I was just staring to think no one was going to answer my question! Yesterday we had decided we should look more closely at the Westin as well. Now that we know what to ask for at the PP (thanks to you) we'll just have to decide if we want a bigger resort or a comparatively intimate one.
Thanks!

We stayed in a two bedroom suite at the Pan and loved it. Lots of space, mini kitchen, and I heard no noise unless I wandered out on the balcony and something was going on below.

The Weston is very nice too, but I'm not sure you'll get the same amount of space for the same rate. I'd check that if room size is important to you.

both locations are the same, but I find the westin a little too stiff. it is a few years newer, but the Pan does have bigger rooms. Cheers, Al

We (mid 50s) LOVE the Pan Pacific for our ski vacations. When they were expensive, we got a good rate from Expedia.
