Help from Fodor Friends needed

My wife and I went with another couple to Western Canada a few years ago hoping to experience a holiday of a lifetime. We were not disappointed and to this day speak of the wonderful times we had.
Unfortunately, our male friend has recently been advised he has incurable cancer. One of the many memories we often share about our wonderful holiday is how both he and I had to buy a cheap pair of Ski-gloves whilst in Banff, (the weather unexpectedly became bitterly cold in early September) and then how my friend inadvertently left his gloves on a ferry crossing from Vancouver Island.
No, I’m not asking anyone to go look for them (!!), but I would love to get my friend an exact pair as a Christmas present and would be extremely grateful if my Fodor friends could direct me to a website (presumably in Canada) where I could purchase these gloves direct and have shipped to the UK in time for Christmas.
I have just changed my profile picture to include the exact gloves left on the ferry (Black & red with maple leaf motif) and would be grateful for any help, having spent hours trying to find them on the web myself.

[I’m hoping this request won’t ‘infringe’ on any of Fodor’s rules but if they do would hope, under the circumstances, this could be overlooked.]

My sympathies on your friend's illness.

However, gloves, like all clothing items, change colours, patterns etc. with each season. Since it's been a few years since they were bought and lost, I suspect the chances of finding the exact same gloves again to be almost impossible.

That's what I feared ShelliDawn. I just don't quit easily so thought it worth giving it a try on Fodor's. Thanks for your reply anyway. Appreciate it.

Does your glove not have a tag or label with a CA Identification Number? If it does, go to http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/e...g/h_02575.html to identify the manufacturer or importer of the product.

have your drycleaned/washed and re=gift back to him? I know
not exactly what you want, but...
You could give him one, you keep one to signify your friendship/connection ?? Grasping here, but some ideas anyway. Let us know what you work out.

Well, unless you removed the label, that means the gloves were sold in contravention of Canada's Textile Labelling Act. So, finding the gloves through identifying the importer/distributor is a dead end. Sorry.

norfolkanway,
Sorry to hear about your friend. Very sad. Your idea to send him the gloves that he lost on the ferry is very touching. I wish I could help.

Perhaps if you contact the store where you bought the gloves, they can help. Shouldn't be too difficult to track down the name of the store in Banff.
