Has Marble Canyon reopened?
Hello,
I was searching for some information about Marble Canyon, and found some posts from late last summer indicating that this was temporarily closed. Just wondering if anyone knows the current status? Thanks. |
Making the assumption you mean Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park, you can contact the park directly:
Kootenay National Park of Canada P.O. Box 220 Radium Hot Springs, B.C. Canada V0A 1M0 Phone : 250-347-9505 Fax: 250-347-9980 TTY: 1-866-787-6221 Email: [email protected] Website: http://www2.parkscanada.gc.ca/pn-np/...ay/index_E.asp |
I asked the park visitor center staff about Marble Canyon earlier. The answer was Iffy. I suggest asking again.
It may reopen later in the summer, if at all. But the timetable may have shifted since I asked. |
Thanks for the information. I will check with the park next month (keeping fingers crossed!)

Marble Canyon Campground
Open June 22 - September 3, 2007 86 km north of Radium Hot Springs or 7 km south of the Banff-Kootenay boundary. A high altitude campground close to the self-guided interpretive trail along the deep gorge that is Marble Canyon Marble Canyon Trail Marble Canyon day-use area and trail will remain closed until crews have repaired bridges and railings and cleared fallen trees. The trail is anticipated to be open for the 2007 season. Looks like it may open on 22 June. |
Sorry to report that Marble Canyon has not as of today reopened. Moreover, a definite date for reopening has not yet been set. Here is the key part of an email I received from Kootenay Park Headquarters:
-------------------------------- We do not have a date confirmed on the opening date. We do know that there is a crew hard at work in that area. ------------------------------------ Basically, it says: Trail not open. Don't know when it will be. For some reason, Parks Canada has not thought that Marble Canyon was a high priority item. |
