Harborcruise in Toronto?

We're visiting this July with two 14 year old boys, and were considering a sightseeing cruise around the harbor..any suggestions as to which are best? Anyone gone on the schooner trip? Thanks!

All the harbour cruises leave from Harbourfront. As you walk along the lakeside near Queens Quay Terminal there will be several booths. We take one of 2 choices depending on our schedule (or theirs). There is an open top boat that has seats in a row that goes for about an hour in the harbour, around the islands (but again inside the harbour) and then there is a sailboat that goes inside the harbour but then takes you out into the lake. As we go more for the boatride than the harbour tour, we love the experience of actually sailing which we get from being out on the lake. We also enjoy the crew on the schooner because they are usually from all over the world and that makes it interesting for us. If you want a cheap, fast, trip across the harbour you can take one of the ferries that goes over to the Islands, spend time there, and ferry back over. There's 3 choices. Maybe someone else knows about the larger cruise boats that offer lunches and dinners aboard. If you have a hot, sunny day you should remember to bring drinks with you and also sunscreen.

Thanks Bonnie! How long is the schooner trip, and is there more than one outfit that offers it? It sounds like the boys might enjoy that better than the regular harbor trip..<BR>

I used to work for one of the companies that does harbour tours - Toronto Tours. Come July they offer a fully narrated tour of the harbour and most of the islands, plus stop off at the islands to let you spend some time there if you like. Not sure if they're offering that again this year but it's worth a look. Plus they offer the most comprehensive tour in the harbour plus discounts on other tours and attractions throughout the city. Tours usually leave every 30 minutes, 20 on busy weekends. Boats leave from the little blue building at York and Queen's Quay. Call 416-203-6994 and tell them I sent you.
