grouse mountain and capilano suspension bridge
Anyone taking this tour? What was your experience? Did you use a particular tour company? Do you have to be steady on your feet and not afraid of heigths?
I went to Lynn Canyon by public transport instead. The suspension bridge there is free. There is good safety netting on both sides.
Grouse Mountain is a very large cable car ride with spectacular views and activities at the top. The Capilano Suspension bridge is en route to Grouse Mountain and is very popular with tourists. Though I live less than 5 minutes away, I have never visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I have been to Lynn Canyon many times: nature at its best! The walk across the bridge is beautiful but those who do not like heights may not enjoy it. No worry, there are many scenic and natural hiking trails all around. Did I mention that it is free and there are no large tour buses in sight?

We've been to both several times, but always on our own and never with a tour company. As mentioned above, there is an excellent public transportation system that will get you there. We've always had a car, though.
Capilano - the last time we were there, the place had been expanded greatly and we felt the entrance fee was well worth it. However, if you really have difficulty with heights, you might not like the part where you cross over on the suspension bridge. It is well built and quite safe, though. Grouse - I know cruise tours emphasize the lumberjack show on top of Grouse Mountain. Yes, it is entertaining; but there are a lot of other things to do and see there besides that. If you go on your own, you won't be herded around and can spend extra time. There is a nice lounge and several dining options too. |
I understand that there is a free shuttle from Canada Place . Is it possible to do the Fly Over Canada and Grouse Mt. in the same day. We are thinking about taking a Hop On Hop Off bus for the second day.
Fly over Canada is a simulator ride, right? Sure. You could easily plan to spend a half day at Grouse Mountain. Maybe get there early-mid afternoon and stay for dinner, or get there at lunch and spend a few afternoon hours.
I'd suggest checking what will be operating when you plan to visit. We were disappointed on our last visit as some of the features were not operating and we felt that the entrance price did not reflect the few things we could see and do.
