Greyhound Food Stops In BC
 

I posted before inquiring about taking a Greyhound trip from Vancouver-Calgary and I'd like to thank all who replied for their help.

I'm to the point where I'm looking up the bus schedules and itineraries and I think the trip that leaves Vancouver early in the morning and arrives in Calgary the same night and vice versa are my best bets.

I definitely plan on taking snacks, but for lunch and dinner, I'd like something hot or fresh to eat that's not overly greasy. And now, onto my query.

Each trip has two food stops, one each in Kamloops and Golden. I plugged the station addresses into Yahoo maps and found that there are other restaurants besides the stations' greasy spoons in close proximity. Each stop is 30-40 minutes, which is ample time to walk a short distance and grab a quick meal. However, without being familiar with either area, I'm not sure how accurate the info is.

In Kamloops, Yahoo shows a Boston Pizza and a Sub Shop in the Columbia Square Mall about .3km from the station. In Golden, it shows a Subway Sandwich shop and a Dairy Queen right next door to the Greyhound stop at Humpty's restaurant. For those of you familiar with either locale, does this sound right?

Yes you're correct-those places were there last I travelled through-by car.

In any case talk to the driver and make absolutely sure you know how long the stop is-some drivers are more conscientious than others about announcing stop lengths.

I definitely plan on verifying the length of the rest stops and getting my meals to go. Nothing puts a damper on vacation like being stranded.

i've heard that the restaurant in the kamloops greyhound station is quite good. i don't believe 30-40 minutes would give you enough time to go to boston pizza.

Eeeek!!! Having been in the Kamloops Greyhound Bus station in May, I would not recommend their restaurant at all (unless you are very hungry and haven't eaten for days).
On a scale of 0 to 10, and being of a generous disposition, I might rate it as high as a 2!!
Go to the Sub Shop if you can make it in the time alloted (I noticed that the the bus drivers usually count all the passengers before taking off).
