Great restaurants in Quebec City??

Leaving for Quebec City in two days. I would like some recommendations for great restaurants in the city.

Thanks.

We had the best dinner we have ever had at L'Initiale in old QC. We had the chef's dinner with wine pairings. It was fairly pricey but it was second to none. I can't recommend it highly enough. We had eaten at TOQUE in Montreal doing the same chef's dinner and thought it was great. Then we ate at L'Initiale. All I can say is WOW!!!

Hi LollyB,
Is there any type of food/price range you are looking for?
In Quebec City, I am partial to the Café d'Europe: Italian restaurant, you order your pasta (which is fresh) and they will make it right in front of you. It's a cosy little place, service is excellent. 27 St Angèle (within the old city).
If you like couscous, there's a great place also on St-Angèle on the corner of St Jean, a bit less upscale, but delicious. I can't recall its name but you'll see it if you are on St-Angèle walking up from St-Jean... I think it's called Un thé au Sahara .
There's also the Paris-Brest, French bistro style, just off of Grande Allée (the address is on Grande Allée).

I second the recommendation for L'Initiale. We had a wonderful dinner there..also did the Chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings. I also found the service both very good, and comfortable. That is, they managed to be attentive and a little bit friendly, without being pretentious or obsequious. I really liked the place.

We also had a wonderful meal at a small Provencal style restaurant called Mesclun. The fish soup was incredible. There were only a few tables, and it felt like a family operation although I don't know if it was. I had the feeling the husband was in the kitchen, and wife and daughter were waiting tables, but I'm not sure.
