Great Montreal Restaurants
Just returned from a week in Montreal and thought I'd share the restaurants I ate at:
**Brunoise** http://www.brunoise.ca/ 3807 St. André, Montréal, QC H2L 3V9 514.523.3885 Located a few blocks from the Sherbrooke Metro station in the plataeu area was my favorite meal of the trip. They provide an appetizer, a main course, and dessert in the price and use fresh ingrediants. I had a yellow and red beet salad, filet mignon, and sorbets. Waitstaff was knowledgeable, spoke excellent English, and was helpful with wines. **Au Pied de Cochon** http://www.frommers.com/destinations...al/D53700.html 536 rue Duluth est Métro: Sherbrooke 514/281-1116 Another plataue arae restaurant. We ate here early without a reservation before attending a concert. I had an excellent tomato tart and very good pumpkin risoto. Check out the sinks in the bathroom here! ** Chez L'Epicier ** http://www.chezlepicier.com/ http://travel2.nytimes.com/top/featu...=1107942620565 311 rue St-Paul Est, Montréal, Québec, Canada Great old Montreal restaurant. Check out the bathrooms here as well--> What is it with Montreal restaurants and quirky bathrooms? *** O.NOIR *** 1631 Ste-Catherine West near Guy-Concordia Metro 514-937-9727 http://montreal.metblogs.com/archive...ts_bette.phtml http://www.onoir.com/en/frames.htm Eating in total darkness? This concept seemed interesting..thought we'd try it out. It's not far from McGill University and we ate their before a concert. The food okay but nothing special...the atmosphere is worth trying... For breakfast/lunch in Old Montreal, Olive and Gourmando had excellent pastries and light breakfast fare. The sandwiches looked good for lunch, but I didn't try them out. We walked by Les Rempats and Boneparte in Old Montreal and both looked very good. |
Thanks! I have printed your post for my next trip to Montreal But, the "eating in the dark" one is just too weird for me & I won't be going there! O Noir is O No, for me! How do you see the menu??LOL ( I read an article in the Globe & Mail that claimed the waiters are blind..."Visually impared"....is that true?)

impaired...can't type...

You order in the bar area before going into the dark dining room. Waiters are blind; they escort you to your seat. You can order off the menu or order SURRPISE for each course.

Had a delicious dinner at Toque in Montreal last week - been on my list to go to for years and it didn't disappoint.
Tried to get into Au Pied de Cochon but it's not open for lunch and also tried to have lunch at Swartzs but the 30 people standing on the sidewalk nixed that! |
I'm always glad when somebody loves Brunoise like I do. I stand by my word: it's my FAVOURITE restaurant in town!
|
I really have to try La Brunoise; I also heard recently about a place called Montée de Lait in the east end.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND a perfect restaurant for lunch in Montreal.
Simply superb is: RESTAURANT AMBIANCE (Bistrot Antique) located at 1874, rue Notre-Dame Q., Suite 1, Montreal, (tel: 514-939-2609). Young couple owner, with a young female chef that excels. GOURMET LOVERS WILL LOVE THIS PLACE. We just returned from week in Montreal and went to this restaurant several times - it was just that great. Fodor's please check this place out. |
Alas, Brunois on St. André is closed. It was often our Saturday night restaurant on Montreal long weekends. The Brasserie Brunois on de la Montagne does not get the same rave reviews as the original location.
