Thanks for the help on the other hotel. Has anyone stayed at the Gowrie in the past year or so. I know it had very high ratings for food, etc., but I think the owner/chef died in 04. So wondering what it is like now? Thanks again

My husband and I stayed at Gowrie House in early June and had dinner there. There was a big family party taking place that night but this did not spoil our enjoyment of the dinner in anyway-very friendly local family. The menu may have been a little limited for that reason but we had a very nice steak for mains. The hotel is completely memorable and reminded me of some very nice hotels we have visited in Britain where we live. We had a wonderful breakfast the following morning and the best granola I have ever tasted, the recipe for which the owner generously supplied! I really hope this hotel continues on.

The owners have not died and is still in the same family, Its one of the jems Cape Breton Has to offer with fantasic food & services, Believe me its one hell of a nice place
