good restaurants in vancouver

We expect to spend three nights in vancouver the middle of october and should be staying at the Georgian Court Hotel (have no idea where in the city it is) and would like to know if anyone could suggest three different really nice restaurants. We will not have a car and will be either walking or using cab or public transportation. Thanks ahead of time.

The Georgian Court is on the edge of downtown/financial district of Vancouver.

Restaurants I would suggest are:

The Raincity Restaurant - located at Denman & Davie streets. Great wine list, West Coast cuisine, gorgeous view of English Bay. You will know why people love Vancouver (especially on a sunny day)

Il Giardino's - Hornby and Pacific OR La Terraza - Cambie & Pacifc Streets (downtown). Italian

Yoshi's (Japanese)- Denman & West Georgia (2nd floor). Across from Stanley Park

Simply Thai or Thai House located in Yaletown.

Rodney's Oyster Bar - Yaletown

William Tell Restaurant (Swiss) (located in the Georgian Court hotel)

Vancouver has so many great restaurants!

I agree with the other post that Vancouver has many, many top notch restaurants. Some I can recommend are:
Cin Cin; Diva at the Met and The Fish House in Stanley Park for great fish dinners. Have eaten at all three and food was excellent.
Coco

Everyone gave great advice so far.

If you want to further your investigation into Vancouver dining, Vancouver Magazine has a good restaurant "mini review" page up with small writeups of dozens of local restaurants:

http://www.vanmag.com/diningout/westcoast.html

The Fish House (which I also recommend) has their own website up at: http://www.sequoiarestaurants.com/index2.html

And recently, a NYC food critic reviewed Vancouver for his upcoming cross-Canada feature, so you can get his views of Vancouver dining here:

http://www.canada.com/national/features/fatguy/

Joe Fortes (down the road from the Georgian Court) is also a great place. Here's a review:

http://www.guestlife.com/vancouver/dine/fortes.html

Hope this helps!

We just returned from Vancouver a week ago.

We ate at Rodney's Oyster Bar twice. The oysters & the crab incredible. Jennifer was our waitress & made sure we had excellent meals both times. We ate more than we should have because everything that was brought to our table was so good.

Also if you like Italian food, try Piccolo Mondo. Each dish was precisly as it should have been. The wine list was also quite extensive.

Those were our two outstanding dining experiences of the trip. I'd recommend them both whether a person was trying the cuisine for the first time or if they were a hard-to-please foodie with caviar taste.
