Good lugggage store in Toronto area?
 

I am looking for one of those excellent suitcases Japanese tourists travel with - the ones you can "walk" made possible by the four rotating wheels. I have not been able to find one in the chain luggage stores.

Can anyone recommend a good luggage store in the greater Toronto area/suburbs that has a large selection of quality luggage?

Gold's Luggage, on Avenue Road somewhere north of Lawrence and south of highway 401 (not that big an area) may be the bet luggage store in Toronto. It used to have a store on Queen Strteet, but this is gone now, contrary to what you may hear elsewhere.

Can't promise what you'll find there, but the old Queen Street store had winbderful briefcases, and lots of good looking suitcases at multiple pricepoints. Can't imagine anything different on Avenue Road.

Gold's Luggage on Avenue Road is also closed. The store now houses a health food store.

The big luggage department at the Bay at Queen and Yonge, and the Collacut Luggage at the south end fo the Eaton Centre are NO.

But Collacut told me EVEX is in the old Gold store on Queen, and is like;ly to have this stuff.

I'll try to remember to look in the window over the weekend.

Thanks BAK, this helps a lot. I think I have found the one I want on the Internet (a Samsonite Sahora Spinner) and Evex carries Samsonite.

Today, it has thee large (not huge) Delsey bags with four wheels. You can tip them and bull them with an extending handle, or you can leave them vertical and guide them using a brief-case style handle. One black, one red, one blue. A bit over $200.

But I did not see Samsonite four wheelers, and I did talk with a saleswoman.

Were you there today, BAK? We walked by just around noon - had lunch at the Queen Mother. We might well have passed each other on the street and not known. :)

BAK, you read my mind! I found the Evex outlet on Dundas street Mississauga (between Dixie and 427) and purchased the Delsey 30", hard-sided spinner (CAD$210). They also had the Samsonite spinner (28" - $150) which I loved, but it was not big enough. I might buy the 26" for shorter trips.

Again, thanks for your help, I have been searching the 'net for months to find a quality luggage store.
