From CT to Montreal - how long will it take?

We will be driving from the Hartford area to Montreal in September and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how long it might take?

From NYC to Montreal in a fast car is 6 hours on the Thruway. :)

You'd take 91 north to White River Jct Vermont, then catch 89 north - about 5 1/2 to 6 hours.

I'd recommend I-91 North, to I-90 West, to I-87 North, which becomes 15 in Canada.

There's a fabulous duty-free shop (for picking up your favorite libation - liquor is very expensive in Canada) just before the border crossing there (take "last exit" and it's right there).

Figure 5-1/2 hours with no stops.

We've never encountered much of a wait crossing the border there on the way up, but you'd want to have a good map along in case there's a long line coming home (everyone seems to check out of their hotel and hit the road at the same time, if you're heading home on a Sunday). There's another crossing a few miles east where you can breeze right on through and pick up I-87 again.

Thanks everyone! We're going Labor Day w/e, but we head up on Saturday and return on Tuesday, so hopefully we won't be slammed by traffic. It's our 1 year anniversary getaway! :)
