My husband and I will be in Quebec area - QC, Montreal, Baie Saint Paul - in late Sept & early Oct. We're "foodie" people and would love advice on places to go, outdoor markets, venues, etc. Thanks for any info you'd like to share.

In Baie St-Paul, there are several very good restaurants within 2-3 blocks on rue St-Jean-Baptiste.<BR><BR>"Le St-Pub" is a very good moderatly priced bistro.

Lots of restaurant recommendations on this site. As for outdoor markets, Montreal has two very large, European style outdoor markets - Jean Talon, which is the biggest, is a short walk from the Jean Talon meto stop.Acres of all kinds of fresh produce, flowers, and ethnic delis. There is also the Atwater market, which is a little less funky, but still very interesting.

Believe it or not there is a "gourmet route" for that area. The web-site is www.parcoursgourmand.com. You could also pick up the brochure at the Quebec city touriste office. There is a listing of farms, pick-your-own orchards, and gourmet stores. Quebec City has a farmers market in the old port. Lots of farms on L'ile d'Orleans. Have fun -- it should be a great trip.

We are foodies too and visit Montreal specifically for the food.<BR><BR>Montreal: Definately the Atwater Market and Jean-Talon. Try spiced meat sandwich at Schwartz' Deli. try putin (a little disgusting but a Quebecois fave) Eat at Toque and Area and L'Express and Au Petit Extra. Eat at L'Express twice. Have breakfast at Premier Moisson either at Atwater Market or on Rue Sherbrooke by the Beaux Arts museum.<BR><BR>Quebec:<BR>Never been to Quebec but this is the list I've begun for our next trip<BR><BR>La Conserverie du Quatier - artisanal preserves and jellys and pickles, one couple makes over 300 kinds<BR><BR>chez marie - chateau veshy? Bread maker, cooked in an outside oven, in a town outside of QC<BR><BR>J.A. Moisan - the oldest grocery store in north america, only the best products and mostly from Quebec<BR><BR>Hope this helps.
