Old lady brand new to this genre of communication. looking for premier lobster rolls, scallops and other interesting tidbits on Nova Scotia. Already booked near Peggy's Cove, Smith's Cove near Digby, Wolfville and Baddeck on Cape Breton. Apparently Fundy tides are key to things we must see. Seasoned 57-65 year old travelers, so open to suggestions but new to this area.

During your visit to Wolfville, plan a trip to Hall's Harbour on the Bay of Fundy. You can have your lobster and/or lobster roll there. Also visit Evangeline Cafe in historic Grand Pre about 3 miles from Wolfville for a lobster sandwich and chowder. Nearby is Evangeline Beach where you can have a great view of the mud flats during low tide.

Between Digby and Wolfville, don't miss Annapolis Royal, it is a beautiful historic town. Nice dining options and a farmers' market on Saturday mornings in the summer. If you like gardening, you will enjoy the Royal Historic Gardens.

Scotia, is Evangeline Cafe at the corner of route 1 and Grand Pre Rd? If yes, we enjoyed a good homestyle meal there a couple of years ago, so I can definitely second that recommendation!

Yes, Evangeline Cafe is at the corner of Highway 1 and Grand Pre Road. They also serve a delicious "sticky" pudding. Evangeline Inn and Motel are on the property as well. Diagonally across from the Cafe is a winery where tours are offered and although I have not eaten there, a five-star restaurant. I might add that there is a National Park in Grand Pre commemorating the Expulsion of the Acadians.

Scotia...can you tell me if we will need to make advance reservations for lodging the 1 & 2nd week of October or can we wing it?

I hate to plan so far ahead because then the spontanity is gone but on the other hand I don't want to sleep in the car!

The first and second weeks of October are very popular weeks for travelling in N.S. as they include the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday, the second Monday in October. The autumn leaf colours are at their peak. I would suggest making reservations in advance. When you make hotel reservations ask what their cancellation deadline is in case you want to change reservations enroute. If you decide to "wing it", you can always call "Check-In Nova Scotia" at 1-800-565-0000 if you are having trouble finding accommodation.

I've written my share on this board about the TIDES in the bay of FUNDY and if you click on my name and look back far enough, you'll get plenty of useful details for timing your visits to the water's edge.

I will second the notion of booking for that time of year as it is popular. And do try to make it further south on the shore than Peggy's Cove, even if it is only a day-trip from Halifax. Mahone Bay, Chester Bay and Lunenburg are all lovely and the latter is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has two excellent restaurants: Fleurs de Sel (pricey but superb) and Knots Pub (local fare, fun and inexpensive).
