Flying into Calgary for 3 days

I'm planning to fly into Calgary for 3 days over the Labour Day long weekend. The main draw, obviously, is Banff/Jasper. Given the limited amount of time, I think I want to spend 2 days in Banff and 1 day around Lake Louise. It's an expensive trip for only 3 days, but I use my longer vacations for out-of-country travels.

I am thinking of hiring a car and driving around by myself or with friends in Calgary, stopping for photos, short treks, or just relaxing and soaking up all that nature. I haven't planned out the details of specific stops, but since I'm not really into hiking (short treks are ok), I figured 3 days in total should be sufficient. I would like a second opinion about how much sense this actually makes.

makes fine sense. stay all your nights in banff and with your rental car, you can get around to check out the area. when going to lake louise, take hwy 2A which is pretty and will take you by johnson's canyon which is worth a stop. i'd make reservations now and it is a busy weekend.
