Fly Fishing Trip in Sept '01

Hi! My husband and I live in Virginia and both of us enjoy fishing. We are both interested in fly fishing but know absolutely nothing about it. Could anyone recommend an excellent freshwater lodge in British Columbia that provides meals, gear, patient instructors, etc.? We would like to go for a week in September 2001 but are flexible as to the date and amount of time we spend out there. We appreciate any suggestions and/or recommendations. Thanx!

THE place to go is here in BC, hands down. <BR>That being said I myself don't Flyfish but I can refer you to an organization that has both Fresh and Saltwater Lodge(s). <BR>I've been to their Saltwater Lodges and they offer just what you're looking for and more. <BR>Be advised though this is a wilderness location, quite remote, flying is the only way in/out. <BR>Anyway check it out. <BR>http://www.westcoastresorts.com/eutsuk.htm

Go to www.obmg.com, to learn abpout some astounding resorts in BC that are aimed at fisherfolk. <BR> <BR>It stands for Oak Bay Marine Group. <BR> <BR>I've never been a custoemr of OBMG, but you'll see why I mention them whenyou visit the site. <BR> <BR>BAK

Well I have been a customer of OBMG and I have to say I'd never recommend that outfit to anyone I'd ever want to talk to again. <BR>OBMG is in the business of Tourism, not Sportfishing and if you don't know the difference then they're the people for you-I'm being polite here... <BR>Liz here's another link to an interesting little-known area here in BC, easy to reach from Vancouver <BR>http://www.fishing.bc.ca/

I'm not a fly fisher, but I know (from family who are experts) that some of the best lakes for fly fishing in BC is located in an area east of the town of "100 Mile House" and north-west of Kamloops. <BR> <BR>Some of the lakes I know of are: Lac Des Roches, Loon Lake and Bridge Lake. <BR> <BR>Here's one of the better BC fishing sites I've found so far: <BR> <BR>http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/angling/index.html <BR> <BR>Hope this helps!

This is a great board for general travel info, but you can learn more about fishing opportunities elsewhere. Fly Fisherman Magazine maintains a web site at www.flyshop.com that lists many lodges and outfitters all over the world, along with much else. There are several regional sub-sites, each of which has links to outfitters and lodges and a Bulletin Board where you can ask your questions of people who live for flyfishing (and in many cases flyfish for a living). I checked the Western Canada regional site and there are 46 lodges and outfitters listed currently. By the way, you're none-too-early to be booking the better lodges for this September, so don't delay.

Hi Liz! Here's another website for you to check out...www.reelneet.com. It's my brother-in-law's site...he makes cases that hold flyrods and there's some good links off his site that might be helpful. <BR> <BR>
