Flight Leaves at 6:20 in the morning....

Ok, so I found a good deal on tickets to Toronto, but the flight leaves at 6:20am on a sunday morning....which means I need to be there at 3:20am! Yikes! Which is very early for even myself!

Is a cab my only option to get to YYZ (pearson?) airport at this time of the morning? Or should I bite the bullet and pay an extra hundred in order to get a later flight...?

Me? I'd pay the extra $100 if it is a trip of less than four nights.

Pay the extra $100 for the later flight. Sleep in, go for brunch then head out to Pearson on Sunday afternoon. If you stay downtown near the Royal York Hotel, you can take the airport shuttle.

You could also relocate to a hotel by Pearson on your last night. You might still have to, or want to, take a cab to the airport, but it would be a lot less expensive. You could still spend a full day in Toronto, heading out to the airport in the evening before your flight to check in at your new hotel. (Some frequent flyers like to stay at more than one hotel in a visit to accumulate extra miles ...)

Also, to where are you flying from Toronto? I doubt that you really need to be there 3 hours early for an early am flight. Maybe more like 4:15 am, or even 4:45.

But, KateW, there's still the cab fare to get to Pearson wheteher you do it the night b/f or the day of your flight!
I just had another thought: if you are taking a flight that requires you to be @ the airport @ 3:30 in the freaking morning, why not fly out late the night before? Save yourself the hotel costs for a night when you are only going to sleep for a couple of hours anyway!

I will be staying with a friend, thus saving on hotel costs.

I am still trying to decide which option, but I think I can hopefully get a later flight!

wow - I know the issue is moot since the OP has decided to take a later flight, but I just wanted to point out that my strategy wouldn't have to result in an expensive cab ride from downtown to the airport. The advantage is that one could use less expensive transportation options that operate until mid-late evening (e.g. the shuttle bus that picks up and drops off at downtown airport, or even TTC).

I can't imagine needing to be at the airport 3hrs prior to a flight, to any destination, especially at that time of day (night). 2 hours is lots.
