Flies and mosquitoes in quebec in august

Hello all,

I posted a message regarding the flies and mosquitoes in Quebec but I had no answer. That's why I write a special post for it!!!

Are they really annoying? I read that it is awfull when you hike. I am coming back from Kakadu NP (north of Australia) and I can tell you that sand flies are awfull.

Is it the same in august in Quebec around Gaspe, Charlevoix and Montreal?

Thanks for your cooperation.

Olivier

In Montreal and Quebec City, I can tell you I have not found the flies and mosquitoes that annoying ever. August is generally a great time to visit Montreal or Quebec City; I would imagine also but can't speak for Gaspe.

You will definitely encounter mosquitoes in the parks... But at least in August they are not as bad as in June and July. And the black flies should be gone I think (worse time is in June). Just make sure you bring bug repellent if you go hike in the woods, and don't let a few bugs stop you ;)
