Planning a cruise from Vancouver, B.C. to Alaska, next summer. What are 'not-to-be-missed' sights in Vancouver, Victoria, etc. Is it convenient to get to Seattle for 1/2 days, also? <BR>Thanks <BR>

Hello... <BR> <BR>Would love to help, but can you tell us more about yourself.. <BR> <BR>For example: <BR>1. How long will you be in Vancouver? Did you want just a day trip to Victoria? <BR>2. Are you looking for an active tour, walking in parks? Renting a bike? Kayaking? Or, are you more interested in bus/trolley tours <BR>2. Are you a shopper, enjoy gardens? <BR>3. Are you interested in history, science? <BR>4. Will you be hiring a car or using public transport system. <BR> <BR>Seattle is a ~3hour drive away from Vancouver, and that is if you have your own car. The time increases if you decide to go via Amtrak or Greyhound. I used to live in Vancouver and now live in Seattle - IMHO it would be best to stay over in hotel if you want to take the Seattle sites. <BR> <BR>

Thanks for your reply..we'll be in Vancouver for 1 week then taking a cruise to Alaska... we'd like historical sites, we will have a car but enjoy taking half day tours... <BR>Is it worth the time to spend a day or two in Seattle? <BR>thanks,

Not to be missed sites: (In no particular order) <BR>-Stanley Park & Aquarium <BR>-The North Shore Mountains - Grouse Mountain tram, (or Grouse Grind if you're up to it), Capilano and/or Lynn Canyon, Horseshoe Bay via Marine Drive. <BR>-Gastown <BR>-Robson Street (for high end Shopping) <BR>-Queen Elizabeth Park & Van Dusan Gardens <BR>-UBC and the Museum of Anthropology <BR>-Granville Island <BR>-Various Ethnic neighbourhoods <BR> <BR>Seattle is worth a couple of days if you're not planning on coming this way again soon. Otherwise I would favour two days in Victoria. Less than four days in Vancouver would be a shame and as the above post said a half day in Seattle is not nearly enough and would probably be exhausting.
