First Time in Montreal in July...
 

Visiting Montreal for 4 days/ 3 nights with 2 teenagers 15 and 13.. Looking at(Spring Hill Suites) or downtown...We do not mind walking, taking the subway, etc. Would like to be near nice restaurants, and places to shop and the comedy festival. Thanks!

I believe a lot of the Comedy fest is centered on Rue St.Denis. The nearest large hotel (with pool, parking,etc) is the Crowne Plaza up on Sherbrooke East. The St. Denis area is perhaps the most interesting area of the city to be in - lots of cafes, shops, etc in the more 'French' part of the city. The old city is very charming, but not as convienient to the rest of the city as the downtown or St. Denis area.

We were in Montreal last year during the Comedy Fest! Be prepared for lots of people! It was a great time, lots to do and the African Music Festival was happening at the same time with great music and food! We stayed at Anne Ma Soeur Ma Soeur on St. Denis St. in the heart of the action. A 2-bedroom, 2 bath suite was $185/night plus tax and $5 extra for parking. Great spot with your own private balcony. Fridge, stove, dishes, coffee machine. Lots of excellent restaurants and the greek district literally around the corner. We walked to Old Montreal - about 15-20 minute walk.

I would definitely look for any hotel in downtown area as access to all comedy festival events and old montreal are just a stones throw away by foot or metro. Prices will be slightly higher and look to spend around $150 per night for something decent. I will be in town as well and spent 105 per night on hotwire. I was reluctant to do so at first but took a shot and ended up the Le Centre Sheraton which is very nice.
