Ferry to Victoria

I'm looking for details on getting to Victoria via ferry from either Seattle of Vancouver. Many years ago I took the Victoria Line from Seattle, but I understand that that line is no longer running. I know some ferries allow cars and some are for passengers only. Please let me know the different options I have to choose from. I will be traveling in mid-May. Many thanks!!!

By far the best way to cross over to Victoria with a car is via BC Ferries from Tsawassen, (the mainland side) to Swartz Bay(the Island Side).

There are Ferries from Washington State - either Anacortes via Washington State Ferries to Sidney or Port Angeles via BlackBall ferries to Victoria Harbour but the frequencie of both these runs leave much to be desired especially if you're driving.

I think there is still a Passenger only ferry from Seattle to Victoria in the Summer months but the reports of seasickness are pretty high and it only goes once a day.

I have crossed from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay a couple of times. Take a look at the web page at www.bcferries.com.
It is one of the better pages to use I have found.
It will give you all of the details you should need about schedules, reservations, fares, etc.
That is by far the most reliable way to get there, and take your car.
Those mainline ferries are large ships and carry around 400 or more cars.
If you want to go from Seattle, then the only choice is the Victoria Clipper, a passenger-only catamaran (http://www.victoriaclipper.com/marketing/homepage.shtml). Its a good fast ride, provided the water isn't too rough, then there are indeed seasickness problems.

As mentioned above, you can take a WA State car ferry from Anacortes (1.5 hours north of Seattle) to Sidney (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/info...fm?region_id=1). I think that this is the most scenic choice, as it runs (and stops) through the San Juan Islands.

Finally, there are two BC Ferries choices (http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/mainland/index.html), one from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay (.4 hrs north of Victoria), and another from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo (1.5 hrs north of Victoria). The former is more scenic, making some narrow passages through the Gulf Islands, while the latter is a shorter crossing (but longer drive).
