It would help to know who "we" are (i.e., kids, adults, seniors, etc.) as well as what you enjoy doing (hiking, culture, etc.).

For some info on restaurants, check this thread:

Check out these two sites for some of the local attractions:

And this one for the US side:

Look into getting the Adventure Pass as it will save money on the admissions. It includes some of the historical sites as well as the "fun" stuff. The kids will likely enjoy Clifton Hill - it's like a carnival midway.

Picnics are a good way to cut food costs (especially in heavy tourist areas like Niagara Falls that tend to be more expensive). You can take the lunch and sit on the grass along the Niagara Parkway, to the Niagara Glen, or over to the US side to Goat Island or the Three Sisters Islands. There are some nice spots right along the river on the islands where you could sit and watch the water roll by (just DON'T go in the water - it's a LOT stronger than it looks :) ).

Make absolutely sure that you take the kids on these three attractions...Maid of the Mist... Cave of the Winds (US Side) and the best Whirlpool Jet Boats...

For food, consider Niagara on the Lake... reasonable and good stops include Angel Inn Pub, The Irish Harp, Epicurian, The Shaw, and Old Winery. In Niagara are all of the chains including Hard Rock, TGIF, and fast food as well as Wolfgang Puck and a semi-food court in the Fallsview Casino... also the Keg in the Embassy Suites for a great view and steak dinner... have fun

I think your message says you are in Niagara for three nights and then traveling for three or four more... if thats the case, consider either heading north to the toronto area or into New York State... If the kids like Baseball, cooperstown is a great stop for the Hall of fame, along with central NY and the Finger Lakes...

Thanks for the info. I was thinking Toronto for a couple of days and then would Kingston be fun and stay somwhere in Thousand islands. How far is Kinston and the islands from Toronto? Is there someplace on a lake to stay that would be around the area?

Kingston is nice. Head over to Gananoque for the 1000 Islands tour - you'll get more of the Islands and less of the lake for the time. The penitentiary museum in Kingston is very interesting (if you want an interesting book to read, try "The Convict Lover" by Merilyn Simonds - great read and takes place in and around the Kingston Penitentiary).

Make sure in Kingston to eat at Chez Piggy. Great restaurant with great food.

For Toronto, look at the CityPass, for a discount on many of the activities (zoo, CN Tower, Bata Shoe Museum, Hockey Hall of Fame, etc.). The Toronto Islands are nice for a day outing and give a great view of the city shoreline.
