Family of 4: Where should we stay in Tofino?

We are going to Tofino in August. There are 4 of us: husband & wife, son and his girlfriend. Does anyone have a recommendation of accomodation that will be spacious but affordable? Ideally, we would like 2 bedrooms & a pull-out couch in a living-room arrangement. We will be visiting someone who lives in the town but we will have a car. We are not looking for the most expensive place, a 2*-type property would be fine, it just needs to be clean. Can you help us?

I stayed with my family in 1994 at the Ocean Village Resort and it was one of our most fondest family vacations, ever. I recall it being a short drive to Tofino, as it's located on Mackenzie Beach, directly south of the town itself.

We stayed at the bottom level of a cedar cabin on the beach. It was one bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen (fully stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, toaster, etc), and a family room with a pull-out hide-a-bed. It wasn't as flashy as the super-deluxe 4-5 star resorts that Tofino's becoming more famous for, but it's a family-owned resort of cute, clean, rustic cabins on the beach. They don't have TV's, phones or radios there to heighten the feeling of being remote, however, they also had an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and outdoor BBQ facilities.

I believe that you can rent the entire cabins, and I do know that there are 2 bedroom cabins as well. There would be, of course, more info on the website that ltt provided.

I would definitely recommend staying there, and if I were visiting again, I would likely opt to stay there.

Middlebeach Lodge might have a cabin in your price range.

We just returned from a visit there with our family of four and stayed at the youth hostel in Tofino. It is surprisingly nice with a beautiful view. You can walk through the small town, and can make your own meals if you choose. But, don't miss the Rainforest Cafe for a meal out! Enjoyed meeting other families there. Cost us about $100 per night.

Check out www.tofinovr.com
This is a company that manages a large number of condos, cabins, etc. that are privately owned and put in a "rental pool" when the owners are not using them. They have a very large pool of properties of all sizes and descriptions. We have used them 3 years running and have been very pleased. They have properities on South Chesterman (mentioned by another post).
One problem- Tofino is pretty popular in the summer. You may have trouble finding ANYTHING at this late date- but cant hurt to check.

We try to get out to Tofino/Long Beach at least once a year. A couple of weeks ago we stayed at Middle Beach Lodge - fabulous, but rather expensive. But, if you are looking for clean, affordable accommodation, I can highly recommend Ocean Village Beach Resort. Book a.s.a.p. though, it's hard finding a place during the summer.

Thanks to all that took the time to reply. I will also mention that I found out if you email your dates and needs to the Chamber of Commerce, they will send out your request to all their members and I must have got 20 replies of availabitily. I compared them to your suggestions and was able to choose.
