Family lodging in Mt. Tremblant

Can anyone make a recommendation for lodging in Mt. Tremblant for a family of 4 for July? I've looked at the Intrawest website and found it somewhat confusing. I was hoping someone could give a recommendation based on personal experience. We would like to rent a condo with a pool, close to activities peferably two bedrooms. Is staying closer to the lake better in the summer?

Also will the first week of July still be black fly season?

Also any recommendations for family accommodations in Montreal would be appreciated. Have a rate of $199 including parking and breakfast at the Delta Montreal - can I do better (also in July)?

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

Hi...we have stayed near Tremblant for several weeks the past 3 summers, so maybe I can help. Actually, there are lots of family accommodations there, depending on where you want to be and how much you want to spend. You are better off renting directly from an owner than from Mt. Tremblant's web site, anyway. Try www.infotremblant.com (a small management company) and www.a1vacations.com (navigate to the Tremblant condos, direct owner listings). Many have pools. As far as location, if you have a car it really doesn't matter much -- depends whether you prefer "quiet" or "action." We prefer not staying directly on the mountain (very active) but if you have young children that may be the way to go. This summer we are staying in Domaine du la foret, which is on the right side of the mountain and very accessible to the action, but far enough away to be quiet. In the past we have stayed near Montee Ryan (halfway between Tremblant and Ste. Jovite), in Domaine du Lac (very close to Ste. Jovite) and at the Comfort Inn. All had pools. If you want more info, feel free to email me. Regards, Shelley

A few more things....another web site is www.chaletselect.com, also a small management company (navigate to Tremblant). As far as the lake, if you have a pool you may not spend a lot of time there, although they have a fabulous kids' water sports camp which my kids, who hate camp, LOVE. Unfortunately, my 15-year-old imay be too old to go this year. However, the lake is beautiful and you may just want to go there for a change from the pool. It is open to the public for about $15/day. There is also a great indoor/outdoor pool on the mountain called La Source, which kids particularly love especially when it's bad weather. As far as the black flies, we are usually there mid-July to early August, and the only time I have seen them is at the very top of the mountain. Again. let me know if I can help. We love Tremblant.

Bennie, please note if you choose to stay in the Domaine area, on the side of the moutain, which is a great location by the way, (shuttle available to the village-no need to drive down and park) there are only a few condo complexes there that have a pool. Le Plateau has one for sure that I know of, and a few more will, but certainly double check that fact. Most dont have one. Another area is Le Manoir, nice location as well, across from the village, also has a pool. Also newest of the properties. Another area, with pool, is Cap Tremblant, but it is at the other end of the area, through the "old" village (town) of Tremblant, beautiful views, nice pool area, but you also have to drive everywhere. But all is relevant in Tremblant, nothing is more than a 5-10 minute drive away. Again, all are nice locations, with nice pool areas, quiet, yet close enough to the action. If you choose to stay right in the heart of the village, La Tour, the Mariott, the Westin, the Fairmont, all offer pools, but most are smaller and much more crowded. Good luck!

I've been given a rate of $163/night (including taxes) for a one bedroom at the Lodge du la Montagne. Is this a good location? Is this a good rate?

Also the Country Inn and Suites looks good on the internet - how is this location?

Thanks for your help.
