Fairmont Mont Tremblant
 

Can anyone provide information on the Fairmont Mont Tremblant? How are the accommodations, activities? How is it for cross-country skiing - or is it exclusively for downhill? Also, what's the town like? Thanks.

There is good cross-country skiing at MT, though you won't be able to go right off the property from the Fairmont. See http://www.skidefondmont-tremblant.com/ for information. The main cross-contry ski center is a few miles away, but there are also much closer trails that you can walk to from the Fairmont, and some others within a mile or two drive (with parking at trail-heads). We normally go in Janaury, but this year the snow cover was not the greatest yet with the mild winter, so will be going in Fenruary.<BR><BR>Do a search here for Mont Tremblant - the area has been covered extensively in previous posts.

Julie, please do a search here for Mont Tremblant, as the town of Tremblant, and the resort of Tremblant (which are not the same) have been covered extensively. The Fairmont is at the north end of the pedestrian village in the resort, convenient to everything in the resort. Never stayed there, but it's a good location, and supposed to be very nice. (We own a timeshare up there so have never stayed in any of the regular hotels.) <BR><BR>The "town" of Tremblant is a few miles from the resort, and has some good restaurants, and also access to many of the cross-country trails. Many people staying in the resort never really make it to the town, which I think is unfortunate. The resort is self-contained, but in our opinion a bit too plastic-feeling, like Disneyland. All activities listed there can be booked at the Activity center in the heart of the pedestrian village (and probably also directly through the Fairmont).

We have reservations for the Fairmont Tremblant and it will be our first time there. We will be there from the 15th to the 22nd of Dec. When are you planning on going? If it's after, I can tell you about our experience. Also, check out www.tremblant.com, under resorts and once you see the Fairmont, you can click on the pictures, which seem very nice. Based on teh pictures, teh Fairmont certainly seems to be one of the nicest hotels alongwith the Westin.

Thanks Ruchi. We'll be there right after you are, so we won't be able to take advantage of your offer to share information! My sense is that the Fairmont is a lovely, inviting place with a fair amount of activity, but that the Westin has nicer rooms. Have fun!

Westin definitely has nicer rooms but the overall atmosphere at the Fairmont is warmer.
