EXCHANGE RATE

Hi,
I will be coming there next month from the U.S. and was going to exchange my money here. Now I have heard that I will get a better rate at Canadian banks. What is the current rate of exchange there?

Thanks,
Kathy
Hi Kathy
I believe all the Canadian banks have the same exchange rate. You can check some of their webpages. Most of them have a currency converter page.
The xchange rate is fluctuating up and down a bit everyday. It is hard to quote you the exact rate.
Check Royal bank of Canada; Scotia Bank or CIBC.
Current rrate is about $1.00 = $1.51 Cdn.
I hope you get a good rate.

The exchange rate has held fairly steady for several years now. These days, it is simply not necessary to "exchange money" if you have an ATM card, with which you will receive the best possible rate of exchange. Look on the back of your card for the international network (Cirrus, Plus?). Most banks (look for the logo on the sign) are on one or the other but not both. Nearly all hotels have ATM's in their lobbies now. The one in our favorite hotel has no "fee" (this will be displayed ahead of your transaction). Otherwise, ATM's in bank lobbies generally do not assess a fee, whereas other do. Go to http://www.xe.net/currency/subscrib.htm to have the current rates e-mailed to you daily. The worst place to exchange money is at the front desk of your hotel, and the second worst is your local bank.

This subject was discussed in detail in another thread with the subject "Exchange...". Go down aways and you will find it.
