Anybody been? impressions?

Great food, super views, somewhat rustic rooms. I really like it, but if you are expecting fine accomodations, this would not be the place.

We were a group of four couples who stayed for a week at Edgewater summer 2004. As noted by ALF, the dinners are excellent. Breakfast is a buffet styled continental, fine for me. The views are splendid, it is very quiet and we all liked it fine. The rooms are furnished in a relatively spartan style. We were comfortable enough to rest well after hiking most days. The staff is kind of hard to find except at dinner and housekeeping was a very hit or miss sort of thing during our stay.

Ok well..I'm not a five star gal.
But cleanliness is importent to me.

Just how slack was the housekeeping?
Normally I don't even request housekeeping during the days I stay, I make my own bed, and I don't need clean sheets everyday.

But I want the room to be clean upon arrival. Stains on bedding or carpet, or pubic hairs on 'clean sheets' Or just an overall yuck feeling is not okay with me. At. All.

It wasn't dirty, but some days they forgot towels and some days they failed to make the beds. That kind of inconsistency is annoying. If it were dirty, I think we would have all pulled up and left. Housekeeping was just slack. Do plan to have a dinner there, the food was really fabulous. I think the view, the quiet and the location more than make up for the spartan qualities of the room.
