Eastern Canada road trip?
 

I'll be driving with 2 kids (ages 9 and 13) through Quebec City, Montreal, Ottowa and Toronto in a 9-day period, with plans to stop a day or two at each spot.
Is 2 days enough for each? How long is the drive between cities, and what's the speed limit in Canada on the highways (in mph,if possible)?
With SARS and mad cow disease in Toronto, are hotel rates going down? Should we worry?

I have not been to Que. City in some time- maybe about 2 1/2 hrs-help me out montrealers please.
From montreal to Ottawa is just a tad under 2 hrs(lets say 2),from Montreal to TO about 6 hrs. You should really be able to get "good" rates in all cities especially Toronto although I hope things get cleared up real fast. They've been having their share unfortunately. Would I be worried about SARS-well, I have to say that hopefully by the time you come(when?) that it will be over & done with. But I tend to worry about it at this moment in time.

Toronto is a great city along with mine of course. 2 days in each-you'll have to really try to get in full days if you want to see it properly. But let others suggest.

I'm assuming that you're not sking if you should worry about hotel rates going down. You're asking about SARS and mad cow. While there are some cases of SARS in Toronto, there are no cases of mad cow disease!!! Please, let's not spread any rumours. The only cow that has been diagnosed was in Alberta - a long way from Toronto - and there's no evidence that it made its way into the food chain.

Re worrying about visiting Toronto - there was another post about that a while ago. I live in the city and I don't worry.

Hi San Diego Mom, SARS cases in Toronto are currently limited to a few local hospitals. To date, there hasn't been any spread of SARS within the general community. Other than the relatively small number of people who have been affected by SARS, Torontonians continue to go about their daily lives as normal - going to work/school, taking public transit, dining out, going to the theatre, sporting events, etc.
