Driving time to Quebec
 

My husband and I will be going to Quebec in late Sept. Flying puts a real dent into our budget, so we'll be driving. What is the approx driving time from New Jersey(Jersey Shore) to Quebec? Thank you in advance.

Assuming you mean Quebec City, and count on at least 10 hours. Add in unusual traffic along various points (the shore, the NYS thruway) plus border crossing (anywhere from zero wait to one hour plus). I would plan on stopping somewhere along the way(maybe Lake George area) and staying overnight

Divide the distance by the MPH to get the time you dolt!

You know, MPH can vary tremendously depending on road conditions, tolls, etc, so it seems like a reasonable question to ask , to get some firsthand advice

Thank you for the helpful responses, and also to you duke for that kind response. No kidding there might be an exact way to figure driving distances. But as the last poster stated, there are other factors that make the distance longer.

Kerry,<BR><BR>I can give you exact figures from Wall NJ as we go once every three months to Quebec City. It is exactly 565 miles and if you were to drive straight through without stops, it would take you 9 hours driving at 70-75 miles an hour.<BR><BR>However it takes us really 10 hours with two stops, sometimes three (specifically a lunch break.)<BR><BR>My suggestion is to leave at 4:30am so that when you ride the parkway up to the end you don't hit rush hour traffic. It even is heavy at 5:30am believe it or not around the Oranges!<BR>This is if you leave Monday thru Fri which I strongly suggest or else you might wait at the Canadian border for an hour if you go on a weekend. By the way don't come home/cross the border on a Sunday morning or afternoon as I can tell you first hand it is a one to two hour wait.<BR><BR>We make our first stop after 3 hours drive at the New Baltimore stop on the New York Rt 87, because it is the only one with a Starbucks, restaurants and fillup the gas tank. Because after that when you get in the Adirondacks there is not much at some of the rest stops, but an absolutely beautiful drive! <BR><BR>Another three hours you will reach the Canadian border. Once you pass that you will be on the road towards Montreal which is another 20-30 minutes. We like to stop at the (St Julie) St Hubert restaurant for which you will see signs.<BR><BR>Then the long boring straight 2 and a half hour drive to Quebec City, there is nothing out on this road!<BR><BR>If you have any more questions you can feel free to email me as I frequently go to Quebec City and love it!

Hi Kerry,<BR><BR>You had a good question as far as the drive time because when we leave from our place NYC it takes 11 hours up and 12 hours back to NYC even though the actual mileage is less! So location does matter!<BR><BR>Also there is a little detour that we just found out that cuts out 15 mins. Its around Montreal. When traveling up Rt 15 you can bypass all the rush hour traffic around Montreal by taking Rt 10 for about 10 miles.<BR><BR>Yes, you can email me... just put something in the caption about Quebec so I don't think it's junk mail and delete it by mistake.
