Driving through Newfoundland

My family and i, as well as another couple, have decided to vacation through newfoundland. Landing in St. John's, i'd like to know what the best route would be to fully experience it? We would be renting a vehicle and driving. i'd like to end up in Gros Morne and spend about three days there. But besides that, guidebooks havent given me a clear vision of where i should spend our time.

For starters, some idea of the timeframe is necessary for a useful response...it is a large island with many unique, time-consuming places.

What time of year are you thinking of? if it summer (particularly if it is THIS summer) rent that car right NOW! car rentals in NL especially large enough for 4 adults, are scarce as cod's tongues!

I just don't understand why anyone would post a question and then not even check back for an answer, but that's clearly the case here. Poor board etiquette.

Thank you LowTide...I pictured the OP's trying to rent a car, failing and losing interest in the whole venture, but it is disheartening to never know...
