Driving from NYC to Halifax
We were thinking of driving to Halifax during late November to visit a friend who just moved up there (we've already been, but my friend really wanted to celebrate american thanksgiving up there this year). Is it safe to drive during that time? I'm worried about getting stuck in a blizzard up there.
Thanks! |
Hard to say in November ... typically we don't get "blizzards" or anything that would last a long time, but be prepared for freezing rain and or snow. Where are you driving from? It may be better to simply fly.

We are driving from Toronto to Halifax on the 3/4 and back on the 10/11-going via upper NY state and Maine-New Brunswick. We are prepared to take an extra night on the road if there is bad weather, defined as rain/sleet, but not anticipating blizzard conditions-its a bit early for that kind of torture...now come January, we will fly...

Northern NB you would typically find winter conditions that time of year but for the majority, the drive should be fine except in elevated areas. Drive safe!

As a crow flies, New York isn't that far south of here...Pretty much what ever kind of weather/temps you have, we have. NY might be a little warmer, but not much. The last couple of years we haven't even had any snow until around Christmas time...last year, I wouldn't even say we had anything remotley close to a blizzard the entire year...we only had to shovel our driveway twice the whole winter.
