Downtown Toronto budgetwise
I am looking to stay in downtown Toronto with my 9 yr old for the Street Festival in July but hotels are outrageous... any suggestions??

Hi - what's your price range (in CDN dollars?)

|
sorry I answered this wrong.. above.. I am from Kingston not far away but single mom.. limited budget..
|
Try the Delta Chelsea...a family place with a decent food court on Yonge St. They had a $99/night deal. That's CDN!

Toronto's expensive, and the cheap places are perhaps not ones youwould want to take a child to.

Check the Hotel Victoria on Yonge Street, just north of Front Street. It's small, dignified, clean, and close to subway stops and a short walk to harborfront, which kids enjoy.

BAK

Two thoughts for you:

1. B&Bs in downtown Toronto. I've been doing a little searching on the net and have seen a few places under $100 CND per night double. Still on the steep side. One site I saw was

http://www.bandbinfo.com/toronto.htm

Another site that I have actually used to find reasonably priced B&Bs in Ontario is:

http://www.bbcanada.com/on.cfm?regio...olitan_Toronto

This will take you directly to the Toronto listings (just scroll down to almost the bottom of the page for Toronto.)

2. If you are driving to Toronto, consider either Mississauga or Scarborough. You can then drive to the TTC (free parking for the day I believe if you go to the outlying stations, i.e. Kipling in Mississauga or Kennedy in Scarborough). Both Mississauga and Scarborough would give better rates. In Scarborough you can find decent affordable motels, low rise hotels along Kingston Rd.

Which Street Festival you are going to might help you decide upon Mississauga vs Scarborough. If you are heading to the Beaches Jazz Festival, Scarborough would be your best bet as Kingston Rd runs right into the Beach area.

Hope this helps

You may want to try Priceline.com and bid for a 2 star or 3 star hotel. I bid $39 (USD) for a 3 star hotel in August and got the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown on Yonge.
