Downtown Montreal Hotels

My three friends and I are planning a trip to Montreal the last week of September. What are the best moderately-priced hotels in the downtown area?

What do you consider moderate prices? (in Canadian $) .Many fine hotels have weekend rates that are about $150-200 cdn/night

Around $100 USD.

Hi. My wife and I stayed at Best Western Europa Downtown last July 4th weekend. If I remember correctly we payed under $80 US/night. Location is excellent, included nice breakfast. The only drawback was lots of tour groups with 'all kinds of people' who ended up staying and partying in rooms next door. So if you can afford an extra $20-30, you should stay at a better place. Otherwise, grad this hotel for its location.

How close is that Best Western from Crescent and Sherbrooke St.? What are other good streets to stay on?
Victor,
Did you get the impression that this was a 'party' hotel (a lot of yahoos) due to the tour groups? I have just booked the Europa myself for the first weekend of the Jazz Festival and hope I haven't made a mistake. Were the walls soundproof or like paper?
Thanks.
