Do we need a car for Vancouver and Victoria
We are leaving this Thursday for Vancouver and Victoria for 6 days. Do we need a car or can we get around with just local transportation??
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
I've had a good time in Vancouver for 4 full days and Victoria for 2 full days without a car and saw what I wanted to see on local transportation (I rented a bike one day in Victoria). While a car will give you more possibilities, one can have a lovely time without.

Hi Daniel, My husband and I managed very nicely for almost 5 weeks without a car in Vancouver. It was great using public transportation. You can buy a book of tickets at any supermarket or convenience type market so you don't have to dig around for exact change. The transport is excellent; the only downside is that it may be crowded at peak hours, but then the traffic would be terrible, too. Far better to stand in a bus than sitting in a car in traffic. If we had to do it again, we would use public transport and you don't have to deal with parking. Vancouver is a relatively compact city and your time on the bus will be fairly short. You will love Vancouver.

You do not need a car. In Vancouver there is public transit available. Victoria is a small place. Be sure to go to their very wonderful museam in Vic. The food in Van. is not to believed.
