Do I need a car in Montreal?

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Montreal for 4th of July. Do I need a car in Montreal? Or is public transportation good enough?

Thank you!

Sapori

No car is needed; you can walk most places and public transport is available.

I agree with no car; metro is clean, safe and easy, cabs are inexpensive....

I agree with what's been said. I found the metro system excellent to use for getting around to the main areas within the city.

I have found the 3 day tourist metro card very convenient. It will cost you about $16 can. dollars and is also good for buses. If you are staying downtown you can just about walk to everything anyway.
