Direct to Europe from Toronto
 

I can't seem to figure out what airlines fly direct to Europe (other than London) from Toronto. (And which Toronto airport to use?) Anybody know off hand? THANKS!

Where do you whant to go? The only airport worth considering is Pearson (YYZ). Go to the airport's website www.gtaa.com. You find a listing of ailines and destinations served.

We flew direct from Toronto to Paris on Air France and from Toronto to Rome (at least I think so) on Air Canada.

You can go almost anywhere from Toronto Pearson... Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Athens, Franfurt. just for starters.

Hello wliwl. Please excuse me for being nitpicky about words, but this could be important when booking a flight. There is a difference between the terms "direct" and "non-stop." Non-stop is self-explanatory, but direct can be confusing. When you take a direct flight, that means the plane does stop somewhere but that same flight continues to your final destination. Early this year I booked a flight labeled as direct service from Tel Aviv to Chicago. Luckily I knew the difference between direct and non-stop so I wasn't surprised when we made a stop in Toronto.

I'm bringing this up because I know people who have learned the hard way by booking a direct flight, then they found out at check-in that they did not have a non-stop flight. Good luck in finding what you need.

Yeah - I understand the difference between nonstop and direct. I was just browsing for cheap flights and I'm always tempted by the ease of flying out of Toronto rather than NYC. Ouch, the prices are high though.

Oh my goodness. I didn't realize you were comparing NYC to Toronto. I don't think you'll ever do better in Toronto. YOu are right..prices are way too high in Toronto. I go across to Buffalo rather than fly out of Toronto. The taxes and service charges alone are aweful.

Toronto to Prague stops in Montreal, on at least one airline.

But with the decline in the value of the US dollar, it probably would be hard to find a bargain out of Toronto, especially if you added in the cost of getting from New York to Toronto.

Toronto's three-four airports are LEster B. PEarson,YYZ, which is the onl;y true international airport. There's Toronto City Centre, which is downtown and has limited commercial flights within Canada and plans to serve the north east USA, and Buttonville, which is general aviaton (private planes) plus a few small scheduled carriers to small tonws and little cities.

John Munro Airport in Hamilton has flights to assorted places, usually by charter, but I suspect it is hard to get there from New York City.

I flipped the route, and went from Toronto to New York in order to get a flight to Europe at a good price.

B ut why not skip Europe, and just come up to Toronto to visit? It's a fine place.

Have a look at Zoom airlines, they fly out of Toronto. Also Skyservice...


Not applicable to you...but ditto on Buffalo, I've gone there several times to access Southwest..and I flew to Paris last fall from there (via Philly)

Michel, I have used Buffalo airport many times for US destinations, but hadn't thought about it for Europe destinations. Thanks for the heads up.

Martinair, a Dutch semi-charter company has a direct flight from Amsterdam to Toronto and back.We are considering taling that flight for our 2008 holiday we ar planning.Paul

Thanks again everybody! I'd be coming from Rochester, no NYC - Toronto doesn't much matter. But the grass is always greener someplace else I guess - Buffalo is annoying! I want to just get on a plane and get off in Europe! Ha!
