Dining in Montreal- what would you suggest for 2 special meals
we havent been to montreal in years and are hoping to go this fall. We are looking for dinner suggestions for montreal's best- 2 special meals - looking for great food/ambiance/experience. Cost is not a factor. Also, some lunch suggestions would be great- especially a great crepe place. Thank you!

We really like Guy & Dodo and Il Cortile. Friends of ours never go to Montreal w/o at least one dinner @ Gibby's but we are not big steak lovers so rarely go there.
Have you found a place to stay? ( I noticed your other post re: Oct 3 & St. james...) |
And, Lemeac is often recommended but I don't like the way they "pile the food" ( Google it to see what I mean.) I know a lot of restaurants do the "pile presentation" but I hate it.

we are staying at the Vogue- but i'm going to keep calling the le st james!

Thank you for your suggestions!

How about letting me know about Vogue if you end up staying there? We always stay @ Omni (suite) but I am curious about Voque.

will be happy to write a TA upon our return.

We liked Bonaparte's six course menu; our best meal in Montreal last month. We booked a table at the window which was fun.
For a more casual but great meal we enjoyed Modavie; it also had good music entertainment. I wrote my restaurant opinions in my trip report, Thanks Canada...... |
Toqué! http://www.restaurant-toque.com/
I have eaten at Toqué! 3 times over the last 6 years. Always excellent. To really do it, go with the taster's menu with the wine pairings. No other restaurant in Montreal comes close imho. Ian |
Oh & a good # 2 would be Chez L'Épicier on rue St-Paul est in Old Montreal.

Another vote for Togue and the tasters menu with wine pairings - fabulous.
